Walk For All Seasons Blog

Haven't posted in a long time! Just got back from a trip to Las Vegas and Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where I gave a kick-off talk for special walking program created by Jackie Lord, which will foster team building for walkers and a celebratory Walking Relay next February.

Lake Havasu City is about 2 1/2 hours from Vegas, in the middle of the Mohave Desert, nestled along a portion of the Colorado River made Lake-sized by the Parker Dam. It was very unusually cold while I was there-- (38 during the day, with a wind chill that made it feel like 20!) ONe night the humidity got down to 2 percent! I had to drink gatorade and water regularly to avoid dehydration just being in the house!

One of my favorite experiences was picking oranges, and eating them fresh off the tree....WOW! Delicious! We also explored some canyons and resort areas by car---a very intriquing and vast landscape...would like to go back and hunt for exotic rocks!

The kick-off was a success-- 80 plus people came to hear Jackie and I speak about the benefits of walking and team building --and many signed up for the year-long program. They'll be using the Walk With Spirit site (www.walkwithspirit.org) to record their steps as they progress towards the 40 mile relay race next year.
